Presidents Day, officially known as Washington's Birthday, was established to honor George Washington, the first President of the United States, and to celebrate his contributions to the nation. The holiday originated from the commemoration of Washington's birthday on February 22, which was first celebrated in the early 19th century. In 1971, the Uniform Monday Holiday Act moved the holiday to the third Monday in February, creating a long weekend and merging the celebration of Washington's birthday with Abraham Lincoln's birthday (February 12). As a result, Presidents Day has evolved into a day to recognize and honor all U.S. presidents, past and present.

Veterans Day, observed on November 11th, originated as Armistice Day, marking the end of World War I. The armistice, which ended hostilities on the Western Front, was signed on November 11, 1918, at 11 a.m. In 1919, President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed November 11th as the first commemoration of Armistice Day, honoring those who served in the war. Over time, especially after World War II and the Korean War, the day evolved to honor all U.S. veterans. In 1954, Congress officially renamed it Veterans Day, recognizing the service and sacrifices of veterans from all wars.

National Cat Day was founded in 2005 by animal welfare advocate Colleen Paige to celebrate the love and companionship cats provide while raising awareness about the millions of cats in need of homes. Observed annually on October 29th, the day encourages cat lovers to show appreciation for their feline friends and promotes the adoption of shelter cats. National Cat Day also aims to highlight the importance of spaying and neutering to reduce the overpopulation of cats, ensuring a better quality of life for all cats.
