• Personal information and identification are verified by the title company via video call.
• Buyers and sellers sign the documents electronically.
• A Notary Public uses audio-video conferencing technology to notarize the electronic signatures on the documents.

It's important to note that the ability to close remotely also depends on the buyer's lender. Not all lenders have the technology to support a fully virtual closing or may not operate in states that permit remote closings. According to Tendayi Kapfidze, chief economist at LendingTree, "Most lenders are working towards making remote closings possible by lobbying for necessary legal changes and improving the safety of mobile closings with notaries."

Currently, 23 states, including Florida, have policies in place for remote online notarization.
